The Emergency Department Information System (EDIS) is an electronic patient tracking system implemented at the Ann Thomas Building at the Health Sciences Centre. EDIS automates such functions as triage, patient tracking, orders/results, documentation and discharge. The fast and easy access to clinical information will improve patient flow through the Emergency Department (ED) and provide much needed administrative reports about ED activity.
Phase I functionality of EDIS went live in Children’s Emergency in February of 2007 and in Adult Emergency in March of 2007. Phase 1 functionality including triage went live at Grace Hospital in June 2008, at Seven Oaks General Hospital in August 2008, at Victoria General Hospital in September 2008, and Concordia General in November 2008.
The vendor selected to provide the EDIS software is Eclipsys. The Eclipsys suite of clinical software is known as Sunrise Clinical Manager (SCM) and the Hospital Information System Project (HISP) is also using this suite of software.
