The Clinical Supply Chain Information System (CSCIS) includes materials management, accounts payable and warehouse management systems. By implementing CSCIS, we will increase efficiency in handling orders/requisitions, inventory and accounts payable. CSCIS will automate all phases of the supply chain, from requisitioning and cart management to purchase order creation, receiving and distribution, invoice processing and payment. It will also provide fast and easy access to critical information needed to improve clinical, administrative, and financial outcomes.

  • Current users will use the new system with Windows-based screens.
  • Supply Clerks will use hand-helds rather than paper to record supply top up requirements.
  • Warehouse staff will use bar code scanners to validate products and shelves.
  • Warehouse staff will use hand-helds to receive, put away, pick and dispatch goods.
  • The Operating Rooms and Sterile Processing Department will create electronic supply requisitions in their respective systems and automatically send them to the Clinical Supply Chain Information System.
  • Users will be able to combine stock and non-stock items on the same requisitions and purchasing orders.
  • Purchasing agents will be able to combine requests from different cost centers on the same purchase order.

  • Expediting the recall process by inventory and lot number tracking
  • Reducing the use of stale dated products through the ability to follow First Expired First Out (FEFO) and First in First Out (FIFO) picking criteria
