Connected: Information to Action
Thank you to the 377 participants who attended this years’ Manitoba eHealth Conference at the Canad Inns Destination Centre Polo Park. This marked a 18 per cent increase in attendance over the previous year, up from 320 attendees, with nearly double the amount of health-care providers attending with 44 or 11.7 per cent of the total audience, up from 24 or 7.5 per cent of total attendees.
The event featured a diverse group of speakers and presenters from across Canada, including 15 clinicians, discussing innovation in information and communications technology. The theme was to connect information to action, profiling the progress being made across four tracks: innovation, hospital, primary care and community care.
Beyond connecting information to create action, the conference also focused on moving forward to quicken progress. The panel discussion, titled How do we pick up the pace?, in particular generated much dialogue on this topic.
Highlights:
- Announcement from the Minister of Health about the EMR Adoption Program
- Presentation of our first eHealth Champion award to Dr. Ray Postuma for his work and dedication to MBTelehealth and information technology across the province
- Demonstration of eChart Manitoba by Dr. Michael Stephensen and Liz Loewen, Director of Coordination of Care for Manitoba eHealth
- Panel discussion on how to move faster with representatives from the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, Manitoba eHealth and Canada Health Infoway, moderated by keynote speaker Dr. Kathryn Hannah
Thank you also to conference sponsors, IBM, Online Business Solutions and Sierra Systems.
With an overwhelming 99 per cent of post conference survey respondence indicating they'd like to see another Manitoba eHealth Conference in 2011, we look forward to seeing you all next year!
